Absolute cinema!
Cybermare's a mood in this episode. I may not play Team Fortress 2 myself, but the memes live rent-free in my head.
When Fandom was mentioned, I knew Cybermare was gonna gripe about it because Fandom's horrible in many ways that I'd love to talk about, but it'd take ages! Aside from that, I'm starting to fall in love with Loveweb. This series has become my favorite thing about the web from a creative and animated side of things.
I grew up on the old web before the internet went into “corporate shill mode”, and to be honest, I miss the old web and having personal designs, instead of having it be a Twitter or YouTube clone of itself, honestly. After watching this in its entirety, I went down an internet rabbit hole at 4 AM and that little kid in me came back from the dead, since I absolutely LOVED the old web back in its glory days! The whole video really just broke me and made me realize how much the internet itself has changed for either better or worse, but to me, it would personally be the worst in some regard here. 2003 was when I started to go onto the internet, but 2007–2008 was when it all began to slowly snowball downhill from there.
I'll admit this here: the Internet sucks now, and it's getting worse every year. There are multiple reasons why, but I think the algorithms turning people into what amounts to crack addicts is an obvious problem. It's like an epidemic, but virtual, almost. Rant aside, I'm happy that we got actual voice actors instead of using AI-generated ones, since I watched the Hatsune Miku video that had AI-generated voices. I internally cringed at it a bit over here when I watched it, so this is a whole breath of fresh air in of itself!
As for Twitter, there is Bluesky, and it's like 2014 Twitter but without all the cruft or even an algorithm at all, since you just pick a feed and build from there. I signed up in the invite-only beta phase, and I absolutely fell in love with it to where I abandoned my 14-year-old Twitter account that I've had since 2011. As such, I am considering on deleting it in its entirety after downloading my account data and after that, it's 100% Bluesky for me.
Babbling aside, this video alone has really opened up the little child in me, and I'm all in for the old web to come back! Great video and super awesome voice acting, since it's a huge step-up from previous episodes!
The phrase “I'm a gay spaghetti chef!” shall live rent-free in my head.
The voice fits Noisette so well that it could be her own voice!
